Former Bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw has been clamoring for a rematch with the man who took his belt in January, but still hasn’t been granted one.

Dillashaw thought he defeated Dominick Cruz that night, and all he wants is another chance. However, Dillashaw’s former teammate Cody Garbrandt has seen his star explode over the last few months, and the UFC might be leaning toward giving him the next title shot.

Dillasahw has no ill will toward Garbrandt, but he’s upset with the UFC and thinks Dominick Cruz is scared to fight him again.

“I don’t think there’s a debate about who the number one contender is. I think there’s just a debate about who’s going to get the title shot. Cody’s doing a great job, he’s promoting himself, he’s knocking people out, more power to him. I’ve got nothing against the guy, he’s doing a great job. It’s more about Dominick Cruz trying to hand select who he wants to fight,” said Dillashaw.

T.J. Dillashaw truly believes that Cruz is willing to fight anyone but him.

“He’s running as far and hard as he can and he’s doing a good job at it. He’s enticing these people that are into the drama and the reality TV of fighting rather than the actual sport,” said Dillashaw.

Dillashaw respects Cruz as a fighter and doesn’t think a rematch will be easy, but he’s definitely frustrated with the some things the champ has said.

“I’m thinking he’s trying to stay on top as long as he can. He’s already pushing for a second job in commentating, I do think he does a great job. I think he’s looking to his second career and he’s trying to stay on top until he does that. I think he knows that I’m going to steal it from him,” said Dillashaw.

T.J. Dillashaw definitely has the right to be upset if the UFC passes him over for the next title shot. He is the clear number one contender in the bantamweight division. Only time will tell how this plays out. I’m sure we’ll hear rumors of Cruz’ next opponent sometime after UFC 205 next month.

The fight I want to see is Cruz at 145 for the title vs Aldo. To me, this is the only small guy fight I would pay to see. Then, Cruz with two belts vs McGregor with two belts. SuperDuper Fight.
