With longtime matchmaker Joe Silva leaving the UFC at the end of the year, the company should probably look into making Mickey Gall his replacement. Gall made his way onto a main card at UFC 203 after just one fight by calling out CM Punk. He’s now created another high profile matchup for himself after calling out Sage Northcutt after his victory over Punk last month.

Mickey Gall and Sage Northcutt will square off on December 17 at UFC on Fox 22 in Sacramento. The fight will take place at 170 pounds.

Sage Northcutt is 8-1 in his MMA career, and 3-1 in the UFC. He’s coming off a unanimous decision win over Enrique Marin at UFC 200. “Super Sage” is just 20 years old and is already one of top prospects in the UFC. He was discovered on the very first episode of “Dana White Lookin’ for a Fight.”

Mickey Gall was also discovered on “Lookin’ for a fight.” The 24-year-old is 3-0 in his MMA career. He has won both of his fights in the UFC so far. He stopped Mike Jackson in the first round and submitted CM Punk in a little over two minutes. Gall has elevated his name much quicker than most fighters have been able to. He is a talented fighter, but we’ll really see what he’s made of when he fights Northcutt.

Gall has criticized Northcutt for being “corny” in the past. He has also made fun of his hair. Northcutt didn’t seem to mind, and he fired back recently on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.

“I think just him going in and fighting two guys that had no fights – I think they were both close to 40 years old, too – it’s almost like fighting someone’s dad. It was definitely interesting if you think of it that way,” said Northcutt.

This is the only fight confirmed for UFC on Fox 22 so far. The event will take place at the Golden 1 Center, the home arena of the Sacramento Kings. The UFC will be making it’s first trip to Sacrament since UFC 177 in August of 2014.
